KMB Mercedes-Benz O305 ( ME )

In 1983, the first Mercedes-Benz O305 two-axie double-decker bus was being delivered to Kowloon Motor Bus acted as a demonstrator. KMB was then fleeted the bus with ME1 as the fleet number and registered the license with CZ6686 in the early of August 1983.

The ME1 was fitted with the Alexander R-Type bodywork. Total length is 11-metre. And built on its monocoque chassis which is commonly used in Germany. The bus was installed with Mercedes-Benz OM407h natural intake engine. The maximum power output can be delivered to 240hp. It was one of the most powerful buses in that time.

In 1985, KMB acquired another 40 buses with similar configuration with improved ventilation system. The 41 Mercedes-Benz O305 originally served on Rt.68 and Rt.105. But, however, they  were then being arranged to the bus services on Tuen Mun Highway in 1986 and had a good performance.

The acquirement of these 41 Mercedes-Benz O305 is known as the last batch of two-axie double-decker bus in KMB. And the Mercedes-Benz did not provide any three-axie ones that resulted the Mercedes-Benz no longer be acquired by KMB.

In the mid 2002, only 28 Mercedes Benz O305 are still in services. And these fleets are retiring in progress from time to time. Since 22nd November 2002, all those Mercedes-Benz O305 in the KMB fleets were out of services and retired.
