KMB Neoplan Centroliner 12metres ( AP )
Since September 1998, Kowloon Motor Bus started to acquire a new type of ultra low-floor buses into its fleets, the Neoplan Centroliner, which is brand new to Hong Kong.
The first batch of order with total 20 Neoplan Centroliner on delivery to Hong Kong starting from the Autumn of 1998. The first one, later fleeted as AP1, was being sent to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in participating the UITP show held on October 19 - 23, 1998.
After the finished the tests by Transport Department, the Neoplan Centroliner was then put into services of route 296C on August 1, 1999. On the other hand, KMB had made a further order with 60 and 50 Centroliner during the year. And the Centroliner will be on delivery to Hong Kong around May 2000.
The first new generation of Centroliner was being delivered to Hong Kong Modern Terminals Limited (MTL) on May 2000. The whole batch of 110 new generation of Centroliner were all put into the services of Northern District such as Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, and Tuen Mun etc.
In April 2001, as for the requirement of using Euro III standard engine, Neoplan specially introduced 2 Centroliner equipped with MAN Euro III engine. And these buses have been painted with Magic Green color instead of the champagne golden color. The Euro III Centroliner are being licensed and arranged to the Lai Chi Kok Depot for servicing of Route 104.
