KMB Daimler CVG6LX-34 ( D331 - D550 )

To meet the huge demand of high capacity fleets, during 1967 to 1972, the Kowloon Motor Bus introduced 220 new buses from Daimler, modeled as CVG6LX-34, which specification similar to the AEC Regent Mk.V introduced from 1963.

The first 20 Daimler CVG6LX-34, introduced in 1967, were classified as Class D, which first powered by Gardner 6LX engine, with maximum 150bhp power output. And the transmission were fitted with Daimatic 4-speed semi-automatics, instead of the Wilson-type used in those Daimler previously acquired. The total length increased to 34-feet with 21-feet 6-inch wheelbase. The passenger capacity is just the same as the AEC Regent Mk.V.

In 1969, the Kowloon Motor Bus introduced another 30 Daimler CVG6LX-34 into its fleets. Unlike the Daimler D, the exit was being re-located in front of the rear-axle, instead of behind of it. To distinguish such differences, those new buses were then classified as Class E. Such changes actually was to meet the adoption for OCO (One-Conductor-Operated) and the OMO (One-Man-Operated) later. A further 40 and 130 Daimler E were being acquired in 1971 and 1972 respectively.

Those Daimler CVG6s were retired in 1991. A number of them were preserved by KMB. Some of them were converted as open-top buses with cartoon livery and one was kept as classic bus in the early moment.
