KMB Green Bus In the end of May 2001, Kowloon Motor Bus introduced the first EURO III franchised bus to Hong Kong. According to the announcement from KMB, the new EURO III engine reduces emissions of Nitrogen Oxides and particulates by 28% and 33% respectively compared to the EURO II engine, which means that by installing EURO III engines KMB can help further improve Hong Kong's air quality. VOLVO Super Olympian B10TL 12metres, being the first EURO III franchised bus in HK, has been painted with the Overall Winner's design of the KMB EURO III E-Friendly Bus Painting competition and will be driven all around Hong Kong, including Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, as part of its mission to promote green journeys. The green bus have been registered as JZ6467 with the fleet number as 3ASV141. The next two Neoplan Centroliner N4426/3 12metres, the addition of the brand new Green Bus to the KMB bus fleet, are being introduced in the early of August 2001. KMB specially held a kick-off ceremony in the open area of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The two Centroliner are coated with special metallic paint, which enables it to display a variety of colors, green, purple and silver, depending on the light reflection angle. These buses have been allocated with the fleet number of AP131 and AP132 which were registered as KC2571 and KC3551 respectively. After having the final tuning, the buses have been put into services on August 8 and 9 of 2001 to the Route 104. The DENNIS Trident 10.6metres, being the another two Green Buses, which are assembled with the Walter Alexander ALX500 bodywork. These buses also painted with the magic green color, which is the same color used in the Centroliner, in the Tuen Mun Bus Body Construction Depot. The first new EURO-III Trident (ATS96) have been put into services of Route 11D on 28th September 2001. And the another one (ATS97) also put into services of Route 108 in the following day. For the last Green Bus promoted by KMB, the another VOLVO Super Olympian B10TL 12metres, is also painted with the magic green color. In the early of December 2001, the bus finished assembling the Walter Alexander ALX500 bodywork in the Tuen Mun Bus Body Construction Depot. And hopefully the bus will be put into services in the end of 2001.
