KMB MCW Super Metrobus 12-metre ( 3M )
Since April 1981, the Kowloon Motor Bus started to introduce the Metro-Cammell Weymann ( MCW ) Metrobus to Hong Kong. They are three Super Metrobus with 12-metre in length. KMB originally fleeted them as M1 - M3, but after the introduction of MCW Metrobus 9.7-metre, KMB then reallocated the M-class for Metrobus 9.7-metre and assigned the 3M-class for the Super Metrobus 12-metre.
Those Super Metrobus fitted with MCW-Apollo bodywork with the upper deck accommodating 75 and the lower deck carrying 47 seats plus 36 standing. Thus the total passenger carrying capacity allowed can be upto 158, that meets the huge demand of large capacity fleets on Cross Harbor bus routes. However, the passengers may get annoyed on getting on or off the bus as the Super Metrobus only installed with one entrance doorway and one exit doorway.
In the late 1995, 3M1 and 3M2 were converted into training buses for the KMB Training School, so as to meet the increasing number of 3-axles buses in its fleets. And 3M3 also being the training bus afterward. However, as those Super Metrobus have served in KMB fleets about 20 years, all the Super Metrobus had been retired in May 2001.
